About me:
As far as minis are concerned, I've had minis for nearly 2 years now. The love first started when my dad took me to the Himley Show in 2003 and yet again, I was taking pictures (only with a snap and go) and this got me into the 'mini bug'.
Last year I had a 1994 Rover Mini Mayfair, which was a Cooper Sports Pack look-a-like called Cherry. I had her on an impluse and this is where my learning curve began. She came with a full MOT but after closer inspection once I bought her, she wasn't no where near road worthy. After some personalisation and fixing the problems that weren't supposed to be there (carb problems, sills, radius arms, brakes, etc) she was ready for a swift paint job. On the Mini Spares Open Night on July 18th 2006, I was making my way home when someone ran into the back of me at 40mph while I was waiting at traffic lights. My first car, my first mini was destroyed. The boot, boot floor, rear seats, side panels, roof, subframe where all buckled. I received a broken neck (two broken vertibre) and a summer in a neck brace, no car, lost my job and was heartbroken as well as in pain.
Now I knew more about minis, I went for a tougher project. Only 5 days after the accident I found a little 1996 Rover Mini Sprite 1275 SPI. He was a bit rough, lots of rot, but a lovely engine and a proper MOT. Still in a neckbrace I was underneath the car, checking the usuals and getting my head in the engine bay. I got him home a week later, and began to get him right. I booked him into a great body shop, bought the panels and let me body shop man do his work. He replaced the two wings, two A panels, front valance, rear valance and two door skins and door bottoms to be repaired. He came out in a shiney MG trophey blue metallic paint. Fresh and bright. I started to add the usual bling, new grill, door handles, arches, sill trim, roof trim etc, and then came across a set of five KNES Jupiter 12" wheels. After some polishing and painting by my boyfriend, they went on. A nice K&N induction kit and big bore exhaust went on, and a booming sound system to boot! Jeffry did have a slight accident before the Himley Show this year, a car reversed straight into his brand new door skin and he had to be repaired.
